Sunny Seattle

On Sunday, we met up with Karen's law school friend, Adam, in the U-District. After catching up over phad thai and curry and a nice sunny walk around campus, Karen studied at the law school library in the hopes of getting into the bar review groove. She's still trying to find her study mojo. Todd browsed in a used bookstore and worked on job applications in the library as well. Not very exciting stuff, I'm afraid. After evening service at the University Presbyterian Church and pho dinner (it was an all-star food day for Karen -- all the food she survived on in law school), we headed back to Mary Ann's place in Lynnwood.

We've been really blessed by beautiful weather and the hospitality of friends. It's been pretty warm (40s) and sunny since Saturday which is a little strange but definitely welcome. And without our friends, we would have a lot more difficulty with our move. Special thanks goes to Mary Ann and the Changs! We appreciate your hosting us and also your generosity with our move.

Monday was another mellow day. Since it was beautiful, we planned to walk a trail in Lynnwood. Unfortunately, we couldn't find the trail (somehow the directions from Google didn't take us there, neither did following the signs on the road) so gave up on that enterprise. Instead, we found a bowling alley and had a fun time bowling and playing a game of pool. Thanks to Karen's KMH outing in December, she did really well in the first game and actually beat Todd. But Todd more than redeemed himself with pool since Karen's coordination has much to be desired.

Along with Mary Ann, we had dinner with Jeremy, Megan, and their son, Danny at their Kirkland home. They're from Hawaii, too, and Megan is Karen's classmate from college and law school. They always make wonderful food (and a lot of it so they're very fun to eat with) and their home is filled with warmth. Danny is two soon to be three and is a lot of fun. They brought their cat, BruceLee, back to Hawaii over winter break and so we inherited BruceLee's house. It's pretty cool and very sturdy. But Einstein has yet to take to it (perhaps it still smells like a nemesis cat was there?) despite Todd's serious cleaning efforts. We also got a cat sweatshirt. Einstein wasn't very happy with it when Karen had it on him and walked a little bowlegged. We were pretty impressed that he managed to take it off all by himself shortly after.
