By the time we got on the plane, the kitty valium was in full effect so he didn't seem too fazed by the trip. It was a relatively uneventful flight: Karen studied for the bar exam; I slept and watch Wall-E on some kids digiplayer a few rows ahead (the in-flight movie was The Dutchess *gack*. There is a serious problem when the same actors keep showing up movies based in century old Europe [Kiera Knightly]). A side note, the service on Hawaiian sucks. The attendant, Dean, threw our in flight snacks into our laps and rammed the food cart into the back of my chair pretty hard. Too bad Air China wasn't hiring, he'd be perfect! (Is your manner always hurried so you appear rude? Do you speak in curt, short sentences? Are the passengers an inconvenience and meant to be abused? You're hired!) Landed in Seattle and was picked up pretty quickly (thank you Mary Ann) and was taken to Lynnwood where we are now.
Yesterday was a day of rest and then we drove to Tacoma (2 hours South b/c of traffic) to get our smug-emitting Pious. It was a longer trip than usual, but it went well. Pious arrived ok. We had a nice dinner with Carrie and Mike on Mercer Island (if you're reading this, can I have the recipe?). The mist was especially thick last night. It was as thick as... umm... Cher's cognitive processes. Or mine... for driving and taking pictures at the same time. Note: 49 mph is slow... slow like Cher's cognit... yada yada.
Today, we slept late again (Karen's getting over a cold and both of us are tired from staying up past 2 in the morning for the past few days b/c of packing/unpacking). The weather was beautiful today, clear and sunny, and a sweltering 46 degrees. We had a nice sushi lunch at Kisaku in Wallingford with Karen's law school friend. We also had a nice walk around Green Lake, about 2.8 miles. I wasn't up for it but I was much emboldened by my coffee from Peet's (Mmmmm....).
All is well... fortunately Einstein is handling the move well. Within ten minutes of being let out of his carrier, he distilled relief in his new potty.
Here's two pictures, of course they are of the cat:
Thick Mist and a Thin Mind (Gary Larson anyone? "Full Moon and an Empty Head")
Chiarroscurro (a.k.a. Symphony in Orange no. 8, vis-a-vie Bill Watterson)
